In the prologue of John’s gospel Jesus is introduced as the “light that shines in the darkness” (John 1:5). As we work our way through these opening 4 chapters we begin to see how Jesus shines into the darkness of our world with his message and his miracles. We join in his encounters with different people and are invited to come and see Jesus for ourselves and to believe the testimony about him as the “Saviour of the world” (John 4:42).
